Ryan Gosling has shed some mild on his Ken character in director Greta Gerwig’s upcoming Barbie film, and properly… Ken is just about a bum. The actor revealed that his model of Ken is “going through some stuff” and defined in an interview with Entertainment Tonight:
“That Ken life is even harder than the Gray Man life, I think. Ken’s got no money, he’s got no job, he’s got no car, he’s got no house. He’s going through some stuff.”
Gosling went on to amusingly and vaguely tease the story saying: “It’s not what you think it is, unless it is. And then you know what it is, but I don’t think that’s what you think it is.”
Got it? Ok. It’s going to be fascinating to see what this Barbie film finally ends up being. Margot Robbie takes on the position of Barbie, and they’re additionally joined by Simu Liu (Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings), Kate McKinnon (Saturday Night Live), Ariana Greenblatt (Love and Monsters), Alexandra Shipp (tick, tick…BOOM!), Emma Mackey (Sex Education), Issa Rae (Insecure), Michael Cera (Scott Pilgrim vs. the World), Hari Nef (Transparent), and Will Ferrell (Saturday Night Live).
You can take a look at some pictures from the set of the movie right here and in them, Gosling is wanting fairly Neon for a homeless man.
Liu described the Barbie film as being “wild” and “incredibly unique,” and mentioned, “I wish I could just show you what we do day-to-day because it’s crazy… When you’re doing a scene and it’s working, you hear, ‘HAHAHAHA!’ It’s the best feeling in the world. If you’re an asshole on a Greta Gerwig set, there’s no hope for you.”
Barbie will open in theaters July twenty first, 2023
